Brett Fuhrman

Brett Fuhrman has been with the Denver Public Schools since November 2004, the first four years as Director of Budgetary Services and since January 2009 as the Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for the oversight of financial planning, cash management and debt management, with the Finance Department, General Accounting, Disbursing, Budgetary Services and Risk Management reporting to him.

Prior to joining the Denver Public Schools, Mr. Fuhrman had a career in the private sector as a turnaround consultant, specializing in bankruptcy consulting and turnaround management. He has also held positions within corporate finance and worked in public accounting as an auditor.

Mr. Fuhrman is a graduate of Drake University, receiving his BS in Accounting in 1998. Mr. Fuhrman received his CPA certificate in 2001 and continues to maintain an active license, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.
